Our History

The Canadian Association for Technical Analysis (CATA) is the result of the Canadian Society of Technical Analysts (CSTA) decision to move to a Professional only organization. While the CSTA had both Professional and Associate members for many years, they decided to have direct ties to the Chartered Market Technician Association (CMTA), and thus decided to move to become a Professional only organization. As many Associate members wanted to continue their Technical Analysis education and experience in a more informal manner, many of them banded together to negotiate with the CSTA to achieve funding and support. With these efforts, the result is CATA.

Many people were involved and we want to acknowledge and honour those who put so much effort into the creation of the new Canadian Association for Technical Analysis.

Thanks to: Don Borden, Blair Carruthers, Sid Fedorovich, Allen Hosey, Morley O'Neil, Sue O'Reilly, Gabriella Szasz, Ian Shenton, and Mark Soehner.
